What is a payment break?
Tesco Personal Finance
We currently offer you the option to take a two month repayment break before commencing your monthly payments. This is only available at the start of the loan and gives you 3 payment free months from the time your funds are issued until your first repayment is taken by Direct Debit. Example: If you opened your loan on January 1st and took a 2 month repayment holiday, you would make no repayments in February or March and your first repayment would be 1st April.

What happens when I apply for a Tesco Loan?
For online applications, once your application has been submitted a credit reference search will be carried out and a credit score will be calculated. This will determine whether we can offer you a loan. If your loan is agreed in principle, we will then try and contact you over the phone to let you know your application has been accepted. We'll send you documents to sign and return to us along with details of any additional information required to support your application.
Tesco Personal Finance
Your application will then be fully assessed and we will write to you within a couple of days to inform you of the final decision.
Tesco Personal Finance
Should your application be successful the funds will be deposited in your account within 3 working days of the final decision.

What is a Credit Search?
Tesco Personal Finance
This is a search made on your name and all personal address details that have been provided in your application with a Credit Reference Agency (Equifax) in order to assess your credit history. Our search will then be noted on your record with the Credit Reference Agency (Equifax), to inform other institutions that we have requested information about you.
When is a Credit Reference carried out?
This will happen when you make an application. What is Credit Scoring?
Credit scoring is an assessment of your ability to repay based on the information you have provided in your application, along with the details from the Credit Reference Agency. This is used to help us decide whether we can offer you a loan or not. A Guide to Credit Scoring leaflet is available on request.
When do I get the money?
The funds should be available in your chosen bank/building society account within 3 working days of you recieving written confirmation from us that your loan has been accepted. An electronic payment is sent direct to your bank account and the money can be withdrawn as soon as the funds reach your account.
How do I make repayments?
Repayments will be made by Direct Debit from the bank/building society you have chosen. Can I choose the date to make my repayments?
Yes.
Just let us know your preferred payment date when you apply and we'll arrange it for you. Your first payment must be made between 15 and 45 days after you receive your money.
